A fitting tribute
A REMEMBRANCE service in Kingswood was attended by current and previous members of the armed forces as well as numerous residents.
The event began with wreaths being laid at the war memorial, followed by a service at Holy Trinity church led by Rev Beverley Charles. It was well attended despite some confusion earlier in the week when it was mistakenly reported that the parade ahead of the service was still going ahead. The decision had already been announced to cancel the parade element of the day.
Attendees listened to performances by the church choir as well as readings and prayers.
Kingswood ward councillor Andrea Reid attended and said the event was a fitting tribute to the fallen.
She said: “It was a relief to see such a good attendance and support in light of the last-minute changes and resulting confusion. We didn’t have the parade, the sunshine from earlier in the morning had vanished, but everyone involved still did our veterans proud.”
