A right royal launch event
THE ambitious Chocolate Quarter development in Keynsham welcomed a royal guest when Princess Anne visited.
The Princess Royal was given a tour of the site, which includes a care home, retirement apartments, restaurants and shops, by the chief executive of St Monica Trust, David Williams.
The tour included the £60 million development’s cinema, health spa, pottery studio and the Charterhouse care home, before the princess joined residents and staff for afternoon tea and unveiled a commemorative plaque.
The visit was the start a weekend of celebrations. The princess switched on an interactive art installation in the form of a sun suspended between the former factory buildings.
Her Royal Highness was visiting in her role as an honorary member of the Society of Merchant Venturers and was joined by Master of the Society Charles Griffiths and other dignitaries.
The Chocolate Quarter is now also home to St Augustine’s Surgery, Independent Vetcare (IVC) and Pukka Herbs.
