RESIDENTS were given tips at the latest meeting of the new Hillfields Community Network to tackle a recent spate of car and van crime.

These included:

- Take valuables out of your car/van wherever possible.

- Park in public, well lit places close to CCTV if possible.

- Try to park with the back of your van up against a wall so the doors can't be opened.

The idea of setting up a  Neighbourhood Watch  was discussed.

Residents were also urged to report every incident via 101 (or 999 if urgent).

Next meeting is Wednesday March 7  at 7.30pm at St John's Church, Lodge Causeway when community projects will be discussed.
