LESBIAN, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) couples and singles are being invited to an information event for LGBT Adoption and Fostering week.

CCS Adoption, Bristol City Council, North Somerset and Action for Children are coming together at the Watershed on Wednesday March 7 so people can learn more about the rewards and challenges of being an adoptive or foster parent.

The drop-in event takes place during LGBT Adoption and Fostering week (March 5-11) and is supported by New Family Social, the LGBT network for Foster and Adoptive families.

CCS Adoption adviser and gay adoptive parent Frances said: "I adopted two children with my partner and we didn’t experience our sexuality being a barrier to us adopting.  Deciding to adopt has been the best decision we’ve ever made.  We experience wonderful moments and tricky times like any adoptive parents.  Our children are proud of having two mums!"

The free event will be at Watershed from 6-8pm.informally
