The proportion of students with a Grade 4 or above in maths and English is up 15 percentage points on 2016 at 63 per cent - even though the new GCSEs are significantly more demanding.

On the old measure of at least five A*-C grades including English and maths, the school’s figure is up 13 percentage points at 58 per cent.

The academy in Oldland Common is particularly pleased with the performance in English, while the number of 9 grades in maths was significantly higher than the national figure.
