MEMBERS of a long-running local drama group are celebrating after receiving good reviews for their latest production – Animation Classics: A Journey Through Song.

The show, which was a musical revue based on animation movie songs from 1989 through to 2015, was held in a concert-style format and was well attended on all three evenings.

With songs from many classic films such as Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella through to recent films such as The Lorax and The Lego Movie there was something for everyone to enjoy.

More than 25 cast and crew members took part in the production with the youngest aged 10 and the oldest over 80. They rehearsed from May until curtain up.

Charlotte Lawrence, stage director of the group, said: “Although the production was extremely hard work, the result turned out better than I could ever have expected, with very encouraging comments from all.

“The cast and crew were amazing and I can't thank them enough for their hard work and dedication.

“Roll on the pantomime, for another spectacular production!"

Animation Classics was performed at the Hanham Community Centre in September.

The Hanham Players, who have been performing for 70 years, rehearse and perform at the Hanham Community Centre and put on three productions a year.

They also have a youth group section which puts on one production a year, as well as getting involved where required in the adult section.

The cast meets every Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30-8.pm until 9.30-10pm.
