BROADLANDS Academy in Keynsham is celebrating some excellent GCSE results.

BROADLANDS Academy in Keynsham is celebrating  some excellent GCSE results.

In a year that has seen new exam courses for many GCSEs and the new grading system of 1 to 9, the Academy is delighted that a greater number of students than the national average have achieved the new 9 grade (above an A* standard) in English or Maths.

Special congratulations go to Samuel Pollard who was one of only 2,000 students in England to achieve three 9s. He also got six A*s. Also well done to  Katherine Edgar (6A*s and two 9s) and sister Kelsey and Kristina Lloyd, who notched up  18 As and A*s between them).

All students who studied triple science achieved above a C grade, with over half achieving A*s/As.  In English, more than   three-quarters of students gained at least the benchmark 4 pass.

Principal James Hall said: “Congratulations to all the students and staff at Broadlands. I know everyone has worked extremely hard for these results; a real breadth of success, that builds upon our Ofsted Good grading.”
