HANHAM Players are celebrating a landmark anniversary with a special show this month.

Members of the amateur dramatics group, based at Hanham Community Centre, are rehearsing a 70th Anniversary Showcase.

Organiser Andrew Stowe said: "We wanted to do something special so we’re putting on a selection of highlights from our seventy years, utilising both our adult group and the youth group section of our club.

"We’ve got everything from well known plays, songs and even a bit of Shakespeare."

The show will also feature video projections of past members and interviews with the cast.

"We held a get together of old members some weeks ago and we had a great turnout. A lot of them brought along old photographs, which we’ve included in the show. It’s wonderful to celebrate not only our own history, but that of Hanham itself."

Among the highlights from the seventy years will be songs from Chicago, Stepping Out, We Will Rock You, as well as excerpts from well known plays such as Confusions, The Wizard Of Oz, and The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe.

Andrew said: "It’s a medley of all our best bits and there are a few surprises thrown in for good measure!"

The show takes place on  September 15-16 and tickets, from £7, are on sale now.
