Egg-cellent fun for children on Good Friday
EASTER fun is coming to Hanham High Street in the form of a free Easter egg trail.
From 10am to 3pm on Good Friday, youngsters will be able to hunt down 12 pictures of Easter eggs displayed in shop windows.
Each egg has a letter printed on it, which will form a sentence. The children will be able to hand their completed entry form in at the end to get a certificate and Easter egg.
Entry forms can be collected at the top of Hanham High Street on the day. The exact location will be confirmed on social media ahead of Good Friday.
The trail will lead children down the road towards Magpie Bottom.
There will also be a few red herrings planted along the way. Some shops will display pictures of bunnies instead, with words such as “Keep going” and “No egg here.”
All the pictures are being coloured by groups of children at Christchurch pre-school. They will be labelled with the names of those who made it, so children can look out for ‘their’ egg.
The trail is being organised by Bex Collier, who runs Glam Squad beauty salon on Hanham High Street.
She said: “I go along to as many of the traders meetings as I can. There are lots of things going on through the year but it’s often left to the same people to organise it.
“I wanted to do my bit by having a go at organising a trail and letting all the children have some fun.
“It’s ending at Magpie Bottom to encourage children to go and enjoy the nature there afterwards.”
Her niece and nephew, Lexi and Finley, are among the pre-schoolers colouring in the eggs and are already excited about attending the hunt.
A number of local business owners have agreed to help with the cost of the prizes.
