Funding for VE Day celebration events
COMMUNITY groups have until March 5 to apply for a slice of £30,000 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
The funding was agreed as part of the budget for 2020/21, which was agreed by Full Council on Wednesday February 12.
The first May Bank Holiday this year has been moved by the Government to fall on Friday May 8 to help mark the occasion.
Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, as well as town or parish councils in South Gloucestershire can all apply for a share of the funding to help them put on events over the bank holiday weekend.
Grants are on offer to support events, including publicity costs, PA hire, insurance, marshalling and entertainment.
The closing date for applications is noon on March 5 and successful applicants will be notified after April 2.
For more information about the grants and how to apply, visit www.southglos.gov.uk/veday75. The application form and guidance is also available from the grants team on 01454 865865, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cabinet member Rachael Hunt, said: “The anniversary marks an important moment in our country’s history and I know that there are a range of events already being planned.”
