Golden show is absolute dream
Go go Joseph! Sir Bernard Lovell Academy’s summer production of the popular musical proved to be a huge success.
It was staged by 30 students in Years 7, 8 and 9, who were involved as performers and backstage. All were taking part in their first SBL production at the secondary school in Oldland Common.
Year 10 students helped out too by creating the multi-coloured coat as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Three performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with Year 8 student Daniel in the title role, played to packed audiences of parents and friends.
The show’s director Fran Harland said: “As a group of performers and technicians, the students produced a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable show. For many of them, this was the first time they had ever taken part in a large scale public performance. “Their confidence and sense of ensemble were second to none as was commented on by many audience members. It was a great way to mark 50 years of this iconic musical.”
