A SHOP in Hanham will be appearing on our television screens in the run-up to Christmas.
Eclectic Gift Shop and owner Nicola Bartlett are starring in a high profile national advertising campaign to persuade people to use their local high street.
They will feature in an advert as part of finance company Visa's #whereyoushopmatters campaign and will appear on national television.
A preview of the ad has been posted on Facebook with customers, family and friends all posting messages of support for the entrepreneur.
Filming took place back in October when a film crew from the advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi descended upon the High Street.
Nicola told Hanham and Longwell Green Voice: “I received a phone call from Saatchi and Saatchi’s team of researchers in the summer to explain that they would be working on Visa’s advertising campaign encouraging everyone everywhere to support small, independent businesses this Christmas and they would love for me to be involved. I was absolutely amazed and of course I said yes.”
Filming took took two and a half hours.
“The crew was lovely and the whole thing flew by. I’ve never done anything like this before so it was such an exciting experience," Nicola said.
The video was orignally made for the company's social media channels. However, Visa was so pleased with the ad that it is also now going to use it for Video On Demand on Sky and ITV.
“I’m absolutely amazed that I’ll be on TV screens throughout the UK,” Nicola said.
“I felt really proud when seeing the final ad. Saatchi and Saatchi did a brilliant job showcasing what we’re about and why it’s important to buy from independent businesses like ours.
“I hope it captures how much I love running my business on the High Street and how much we enjoy being a part of this brilliant community in Hanham.”
This will be Nicola's second brush with national recognition, as Eclectic Gift Shop had also been chosen to appear in a campaign for Small Business Saturday.
