THE July topic was ‘Tyntesfield’, the Victorian Gothic Revival house and estate near Wraxall, North Somerset. Terry Stevens told us the long history of the house and estate and the many changes that have occurred over the years. The house is a Grade I listed building named after the Tynte baronets, who had owned estates in the area since about 1500. The human story of the owners, staff and occupants was also revealed.

On August 1, Mike Horler spoke on ‘My Life With Shire Horses’ and on September 5, Tony Harcourt will acquaint us with ‘The Medieval Archer’.

Kingswood History Society meets on the first Tuesday of each month (March – Dec), at 7.30pm, in Room 4 at the Park Centre, Kingswood High Street, (opposite the Civic Centre BS15 9TR, parking in Hollow Road opposite the Civic Centre).
