More success for GB Britton Bowls Club
KINGSWOOD-based GB Britton Bowls Club finished their season on a high with more success on the green.
Following their achievement in winning the Clarence Davey Cup the GB Britton A team went on to take the Bristol and District League 1 title. The title race went down to the last match of the season and in winning the championship the club broke Olveston’ s four-year stranglehold on the league.
More success came when the GB Britton B team won the North East Bristol League Cup. In a closely contested final at St Anne’s Park the team beat Kingswood and Hanham, last year’s winners.
After these latest successes Club Chairman Peter Coles said: “This has been a tremendous season for the club, culminating in an unprecedented treble. It is a fitting reward for the dedication and hard work of all club members.”
The club, which was founded in 1919, celebrates its centenary next year and is planning a number of events including matches against Bowls England and The Barbarians. It is a fully mixed and fully inclusive club and welcomes new members. Details can be found on the club website.
