MP Chris backs High Street efforts
TRADERS in Hanham who have started a campaign to encourage people to support the High Street have won the backing of MP Chris Skidmore.
The "Love Hanham High Street" initiative aim to promote stores, independent shops and businesses in the area.
The campaign promises to raise awareness of the benefits shopping locally brings to the community and provide a platform for residents, shop owners and families.
Chris, whose office at number 60 now proudly displays a "Love Hanham High Street" sticker, said: "As a local man and someone who is proud to have an office on the High Street, I am delighted to support this initiative to celebrate our amazing local shops and small businesses. "Love Hanham High Street" are doing a fantastic job and I look forward to seeing the campaign grow as more residents get involved."
Recent events and initiatives such as the summer and Christmas fairs, Easter egg hunt and planned Halloween Pumpkin Trail are all helping to raise the profile of the High Street locally as well as attracting attention further afield across South Gloucestershire.
Residents are being encouraged to get involved with the campaign and show their support by taking pictures on the High Street or sharing a story about a local business on social media.
