HE LOST his life at the age of just 31, a brave British soldier fighting against North Korean forces.

Lance Corporal George Henry Lawrence died on November 25, 1950 while fighting with the Gloucestershire Regiment in Korea.

Kingswood MP and Minister  Chris Skidmore  laid a wreath at the soldier's grave during a Government trip to South Korea.

Speaking after the memorial service, Chris said: "I am truly humbled to be able to honour Lance Corporal George Henry Lawrence, who fought and died for the values we so often take for granted in Britain - values of freedom and democracy.

"On this day, both our countries stand united to remember all those who have defended our values and risked their lives to protect us. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid."

The MP had been visiting the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan on behalf of the UK Government to pay tribute to servicemen that died fighting in the Korean War of 1950-53.
