WEARING their poppies with pride, young and old stood together at Hanham Community Centre to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.

Families and members of organisations and community groups gathered at the war memorial where they fell silent in tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Among the many laying wreaths were Kingswood MP Chris Skidmore and representatives from Kingswood and Hanham Royal British Legion, South Gloucestershire Council, Hanham Abbots Parish Council, Hanham Youth Centre and the British Army Association.

Moving tributes, blessings and poems were read by church leaders including Rev James Jang (Hanham United Reform Church), Rev Peter Cook  (Hanham Baptist Church) and Rev John Goodridge (Christ Church with St George).
