Spate of attacks on cars

March 29 2018

POLICE are asking for witnesses and information after they received 18 reports of cars being damaged in Kingswood.

Twelve vehicles were scratched overnight Friday 16 to Saturday 17 February in the Highview Road, Willis Road and Reddings areas.

CCTV shows a possible suspect and suggests the offences took place between 3.30am and 4.06am on the Tuesday morning.

A further six cars were damaged in the same area overnight Monday 5 to Tuesday 6 March in the same streets. Again CCTV indicates that it happened at around 1am on the Tuesday morning.

House-to-house enquiries have been carried out and details of the incidents have been shared through Neighbourhood Watch.

Officers continue to appeal for anyone with any information which could help their investigations to get in touch online, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5218039863.

Neighbourhood PC Wayne Hick said: "We appreciate the impact this is having on those directly affected and the wider community. This sort of damage can cost hundreds of pounds to repair and we’re working hard to identify the offender.

"From the CCTV it appears the individual responsible is a man of medium to large build, wearing dark trousers, a light coloured top and a hat. I would ask anyone who spots someone behaving suspiciously around vehicles in this area of Kingswood to call us straight away.

"We’d also like to hear from you if you have any other information which could help. If you’d prefer not to speak directly to us, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call and you could qualify for a reward."
