SPEED bumps are being installed to curb traffic speed in Long Beach Road, Longwell Green.

One will be between Hopland Close and Sunnyvale Drive and the other between Bakersfield and Ravenswood.

The work is scheduled to be completed by October 14.

South Gloucestershire Council is also planning to put speed bumps in Mill Lane and Victoria Road in North Common.

This is one of several road measures on which it has been seeking people’s views. There are proposals to reduce a speed limit and place a time limit on parking in a couple of roads.

In September 2013, the council made a resolution that, as far as practicable, roads used by pedestrians and cyclists near all schools in the district will be covered by a 20 mph speed limit.

The latest scheme is to reduce the speed limit from 30 mph to 20 mph on roads near Cherry Garden and St Anne’s schools.

The following roads affected by this scheme  are Cherry Garden Lane, Cherry Wood, Highfield Gardens, Lodge Drive, Kenilworth Drive (part), Oaklands Drive, Oakleigh Gardens, St Annes Drive, St Helens Drive, School Road, Warwick Close and Withington Close.

The restriction is set to come in next year.

The council also wants to prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in Chiltern Close, Cloverlea Road, Hazelbury Drive, Highcroft, Mill Lane, Millfield Drive, Neads Drive, Poplar Close, Poplar Road, Quantock Close and Victoria Road in North Common.

A 20-minute parking limit is planned between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Saturday on Victoria Road.

Details may be found on the council’s consultation website.
