CADBURY Heath Primary School is leading the way in South Gloucestershire with its success in the Time4Reading initiative.

It is the first school in the district to achieve bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards in the scheme, which launched in September 2015 with the aim of emphasising the importance of reading for pleasure.

The school has a well stocked library and encourages people of all ages to make time for reading.

Headteacher John Ridley said: "We already had a good reading culture but felt there was still room for improvement and opportunities to make reading more fun for all. This is why we embraced the Time4Reading initiative.

“To achieve the awards, we had to demonstrate that we encourage reading across a spectrum of activities. This enabled us to review and improve upon initiatives already in place to enable children to become readers for life.

"We are very proud of what we have achieved with reading at our school.”
