Toys for new play group
A MUM has been overwhelmed with toy donations for the play group she is starting in Lyde Green.
Lindsay Wheeler, who has lived in Lyde Green for three years with her husband, six-year-old daughter and two-year-old son realised that although there are toddler groups in Emersons Green, nothing is available for parents in Lyde Green. After talking to her sister-in-law Hugrūn Dunn from Mangotsfield and friend Micaela Williams from Kingswood, they decided to get together and set up one themselves, called “Little Play @ Lyde Green”.
The plan is for the group to run at the new community centre on a Tuesday or Friday morning from 10-11.45am, with tea and coffee provided for free. It will be run on a voluntary basis, and parents will just be asked to pay to cover the cost of the hall hire.
Lindsay said: “Toys are expensive and as we are running the playgroup on a voluntary basis, we thought we would put out a message on Facebook to say what we’re doing and see if anyone had any toys to donate.“We’ve had loads of donations so far.My house looks like a toy shop at the moment!
Lindsay is still looking for donations of baby play mats for the playgroup. If you have one, contact the Little Play @ Lyde Green Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/littleplaylyde/
