Traffic calming for Memorial Road
A ‘SPEED table’ road hump has been proposed for the junction of Memorial Road with New Walk.
South Gloucestershire council is consulting on the proposed traffic calming measure until 9 April.
The 30m-long road hump would span the width of Memorial Road, as well as extending 11m into New Walk.
It is needed because of the redevelopment of the Kleeneze site. Goods access to the Sealtech warehouse is moving from Ansteys Road to New Walk. The traffic calming scheme is intended to make it safer to access the new entrance.
In its plans, South Gloucestershire council wrote: “The scheme is intended to reduce traffic speeds on Memorial Road in the vicinity of its junction with New Walk thus providing a safer environment for pedestrians to cross and for other vulnerable road users.
“The feature should also assist vehicles egressing from New Walk due to the lower predicted speeds.”
